About

Village At-A-Glance
The Village of Clarendon Hills is a well established, affluent west suburban Chicago community located in eastern DuPage County, just west of I-294 and Route 83 and just south of I-88 and Ogden Avenue.

Originally planned in the 1870s and later incorporated in 1924, the Village is home to approximately 8,500 people and more than 80 businesses.

Resident Life
In 2012, the Village was named the second-best place to live in the Chicago area by West Suburban Living, topped only by neighboring Hinsdale. The Village offers a high quality of life for residents, including a low crime rate, quality schools, high average home values and vibrant downtown, which includes a Metra commuter rail station. The community also includes business corridors along Ogden Avenue and 55th Street.

Downtown Clarendon Hills

Neighborhoods and Commercial Districts Investments
Clarendon Hills continues to renew itself through supporting investment and reinvestment in its neighborhoods and commercial districts. The Village approved a Downtown Master Plan in 2006, an Ogden Avenue TIF District, and continues public investment in infrastructure and municipal services to ensure that Clarendon Hills continues to thrive long into the future. The Village remains proactive in pursuing development projects and opportunities that will promote it as a destination for new residents, businesses, shoppers and visitors while keeping true to its small town character and appeal.

Top-Rated Schools
The Village is home to some of the top-rated schools in the state. Walker Elementary, Prospect Elementary and Clarendon Hills Middle School are located in Clarendon Hills. Many students attend Hinsdale Central High School. In the elementary school district, District 181, more than 95 percent consistently exceed state achievement standards in core subjects, compared to 75 to 85 percent of students across the state. In 2005, Newsweek Magazine ranked Hinsdale Central High School as one of the top 200 schools in the nation. Notre Dame, a private Catholic school that teachers pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, is also located in the Village.

Seasonal Community Events

Clarendon Hills is home to a number of seasonal community events this year that serve to further highlight our community. Dancin’ in the Street, Daisy Days, Christmas Walk and Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony all take place in downtown Clarendon Hills and attract people from all around the Village. These events also provide additional opportunities for businesses to interact with potential customers.
