Residents of Clarendon Hills,
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to individually meet with business owners in our downtown business district. The purpose of my visit was to address any concerns they may have and to convey what measures the Clarendon Hills Police Department is taking to address the current issue of civil unrest spurred on by the senseless and tragic killing of George Floyd. During these meetings, the issues of manpower and resources were brought into question. This Department, like many police departments in DuPage County, rely on mutual aid agreements to provide manpower and resources in times of civil unrest and critical incidents. In particular, the Clarendon Hills Police Department belongs to the Illinois Law enforcement Alarm System.
Currently, the Department has added additional personnel to each shift and has increased patrols. The Department has been receiving and sharing law enforcement intelligence and has been monitoring social media. We urge residents to call 911 with any suspicious activity.
Finally, I would like to assure the residents of Clarendon Hills that members of our Department will continue to treat all citizens with dignity and respect regardless of their race or ethnicity. We will continue to train our officers in proper use of force, procedural justice, and cultural competency. We will continue to serve the community with honor and integrity.
Please remain vigilant and safe.
Chief Paul Dalen
