The West Nile Virus within the adult mosquito population has reached the level where transmission of humans is likely. Clarendon Blackhawk Mosquito Abatement District has had multiple positives from the Clarendon Hills trap and surrounding areas. They are planning on spraying the village hopefully next week. The extreme heat combined with evening rains this week have not been conducive to any attempt to accomplish this operation. Hopefully mother nature will cooperate next week.
We will give our residents as much notice as possible.
In the meantime please protect yourself from mosquitos. Some suggested personal protective measures include use of mosquito repellents, wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants, and limiting outdoor exposure from dusk to dawn. Reducing mosquito breeding sites like standing water around the home, can further decrease the risk for WNV exposure.
