Six Hinsdale Central High School AP Environmental Science classes will work to design educational signage and web resources for various components of the garden, answering: What is the environmental problem addressed by the garden; What is the science behind the garden; How does the Garden work to alleviate the environmental problem; and What can we do at home that works to alleviate the environmental problem? Specifically the students will address the following problems: Water is a diminishing resource; water pollution/flood mitigation; loss of Illinois flora biodiversity; food mileage; waste; and loss of pollinators. Student projects will be put on display at the High School on time for Earth Day (4/2/2016).
Special thanks to Christy Webber Landscape Designs, Wahaso, Conservation Design Forum, and Swanzey Lakes for volunteering their valuable time and participating in the project kickoff.
