Finance Department

Responsibilities

The Finance Department is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the Village, collecting revenues due the Village, assuring debts are promptly satisfied, billing for water usage, safeguarding of assets and providing financial information and support to all Village departments. The Department ensures the Village's fiscal resources are utilized in a manner consistent with the intentions of the Village President and Board of Trustees.

Annual Budget

Every year, the Village President and Board of Trustees review and approve the Village's Annual Budget. The Finance Department is instrumental in the compilation of the Budget, which establishes management's fiscal plan for the year and controls departmental outlays, fund expenditures and capital purchases throughout the year. Copies of the Annual Budget are available online, at the Village Hall and the Clarendon Hills Public Library which is located at 7 N Prospect Avenue in Clarendon Hills.

Annual Financial Reports

The Finance Department maintains the responsibility of ensuring that adequate accounting data is compiled to prepare the financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. These statements are produced in the form of the Village's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (Annual Report).

The Village's most recent  Annual Comprehensive Financial Report is available online, at the Village Hall and the Clarendon Hills Public Library. The Annual Report details the Village's financial activity and position, which is audited by an independent firm of Certified Public Accountants. Information in the Annual Report is not updated for developments subsequent to the date of the independent auditor's report.

Awards

The Government Finance Officer's Association of the United States and Canada has again awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Village of Clarendon Hills for its Annual  Comprehensive Financial Report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment for the Village of Clarendon Hills and its Finance Department. The Village of Clarendon Hills has received this award every year since 1993.
